A Young Entrepreneur is Leading and Succeeding by Giving 25% of her Business’s Proceeds to Ocean Preservation & Restoration
They are only 14 and 16-years old and they are already entrepreneurs. Adeline Richardson and Ashlyn Johnsen are embodying the qualities of future leaders. Adeline and Ashlyn detail their roles as businesswomen while Sarina Fazan takes us around Joyful Notion, a lifestyle boutique and flower bar located at Sparkman Wharf in Downtown Tampa.
Ashlyn helps run Joyful Notion alongside her mother Crystal Johnsen who is the owner of this “go-to lifestyle” boutique. From flowers to fashion, this shop which opened only a month ago seeks to embrace local designers and businesses.
“The whole idea is we get new stuff from different local designers and we also have a flower bar,” says Ashlyn.
Featured at Joyful Notion is Adeline Richardson’s pop-up shop displaying items from her newly founded business, Blue-Shores Co. This is not the first time, Adeline has launched a business, She had a slime company whe she was only 11. But her love for the ocean inspired to launch this new endeavor. She is now successfully selling sweatshirts, t-shirts, stickers, and jewelry.
“I draw all my designs and I make stickers,” says Adeline excitedly.
She uses the company Comfort Colors to make the designs of her t-shirts and sweatshirts come to life. Adeline also adds that along with her creative contributions, her business donates 25 percent of its proceeds to the nonprofit organization Oceana and makes efforts to use recycled materials for their items.
“Most of our packaging is eco-friendly,” says Adeline proudly.
Sarina and Ashlyn are in awe of the values and creativity of Blue Shores Co.
“You know I’m going home with something,” says Sarina endearingly.
Ashlyn, who is also a hard-working young lady , is impressed by Adeline’s entrepreneurial spirit.
“I think it’s awesome, I think her stuff is cool,” says Ashlyn.
The work of these passionate young entrepreneurs is admirable, and Sarina is proud of what they are accomplishing at such a young age.
“These are our future leaders of America folks,” says Sarina proudly.
