Hiccup Girl Jennifer Mee Found Guilty of Murder: The Exclusive Interview

A teenager turned convicted killer, Jennifer Mee was known by the nation as the “Hiccup Girl.” Now Jennifer Mee has been behind bars since 2010 and will remain there for life without parole. She was convicted and sentenced in 2013.

I first met Jennifer Mee in 2007 when she captivated the nation as a teenager suffering from uncontrollable hiccups, and I followed the stunning news of her arrest three years later. During an interview, Jennifer Mee said, “I got cased up with the wrong crowd of people. Unfortunately, when I started experimenting with drugs, I just felt like I was invincible.”

Florida state laws are among the strictest in the nation. Accomplices to the commission of a crime face the same consequences as the mastermind, and this is exactly what happened to Jennifer Mee. Even though Jennifer Mee never pulled the trigger, she was involved with the planning of a robbery that lead to the death of the victim.

Jennifer Mee was denied a retrial from the court of appeals in 2015.

The State Attorney explains that the case, while tragic, is not unique. Mee still has hope for an appeal, but her attorney has said that there is a less than one percent chance of her getting out of prison.
