I am over the top, so honored and flattered that I am among this year’s nominees for Creative Loafing: Best of the Bay. I am nominated in the “Best Local TV Person” category.

It’s been such a HUGE compliment to be nominated in the past, but this year means more to me than I can properly express in words. I hope to share more in the future.  There has been a lot going on this year and as many know on the personal side it has been heart wrenching with the loss of my beloved brother-in-law, Dr. Hasan Khan. It is most excruciating to see my beautiful sister in so much pain. It puts life in perspective. I am sorry, I do not mean to weigh down this article.

I wish you could have seen my face when I heard the news of being nominated this year! Here is how it happened. A dear friend of mine and a proof reader of this blog, Andy Graham invited me to share some social time at my favorite restaurant, Berns.

While we were sitting at the bar, a patron pointed out one of our favorite bartenders, Doug Coe, was nominated this year in the food and entertainment category. I gave him a huge hug and said it was so well deserved! Next, some other patrons turned to me and shared the news that I was also among this year’s nominees.

Later on I learned to make things even better, I am in such great company with some of my fellow nominees. You never know who can walk into your life and open doors. A dear friend of mine Mike Muroff, who is a partner in Purdy+Muroff Architecture, Inc.  introduced me to a good friend of his, Law Smith.

Law and his business partner Eric Readinger, encouraged me to follow my passion and start a podcast. I have taped seven episodes of Trailblazer: The Sarina Fazan Podcast, which will be launching soon. Hasan’s passing and my priority to take care of my family has taken precedence in my life. I have spent a lot of time in Chicago this year so I can be present for them. But, I am announcing the air date soon.

Back to Law and Eric, the guys have their own podcast “Sweat Equity.” Wouldn’t you know, and not a surprise to me, they are nominated as well in several categories! Best podcast and best recording studio included. I have had the privilege to be a guest on multiple shows and the studio is where I tape my podcast. Eric is also nominated for best up and coming radio personality, and Law for best stand up comic and best mover and shaker.

Again, it is such a compliment to be nominated with the “Best of the Bay.”
